Sabri lives through her drawings and can not resist a fight. Shankar gets through the toughest of situations by making a joke of them. Magan quitely observes things around him and tries to understand the world.

While the village elders struggle for their forest, the children are looking for a sparrow with a red bum, the teacher's cane is hard at work, and the leaves of a tree are telling stories.
